It’s possible. Apple would prefer you to buy them off iTunes to put them on, but that can get pricey. There’s software out there that allows you to make iPod versions of DVDs. Basically, you’re ripping the DVD and putting it on your computer. (And it’s completely legal if you already own the DVDs and aren’t distributing the iPod versions).
Keep in mind that I have a Mac, so the software may be different for you if you’re a Windows user. I use Mac the Ripper to get the movie off the DVD, and then Handbrake to put it in iPod form. Try searching for those apps online and find the Windows equivalents if you need to. Once you learn how to use them, you should be good to go.
